The Artists Gallery (TAG) will celebrate photography as an art form during the Black & White Captures of the World exhibition, running from January 8-24, 2025. Please join us at the opening reception on January 11th from 5-8 pm.
The curators, Eric Renard and Gig Chung, both fine art photographers, examined hundreds of images from all genres of photography to assemble this exclusive exhibition. “This is a unique exhibition that showcases some of today's best photographers from across the globe" said Renard about the exhibition. "With no more than one image per submitting photographer this exhibition gives a sense of where fine art photography is today from all parts of the world" he said.

Christ at the Column is a small painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Antonello da Messina, executed c. 1476–1478, showing the Flagellation of Christ. It is in the Louvre in Paris.
Painted in his final years, the pictures shows Antonello's assimilation of the Early Netherlandish and Venetian influences into a mature art. For long time the unusual small size and close-up view of the subject led scholars to think that the work had been cut down and originally extended lower, and that originally a parapet separated Christ from the watchers. This theory has been proved to be wrong.
The face of Christ was a common theme in Antonello's art: however, portraying Christ in the middle of his pain, in the moment in which the tortures have just begun, Antonello managed to obtain an emotive impact sometimes lacking in his similar works.
As usual, Antonello devoted high attention to the rendering of details: the sweaty hair, the beard (each hair of which can be distinguished), the half open mouth, in which teeth and tongue can be seen, the first stripes of blood marking the face, the perfectly transparent drops.

sometimes you have to try something new :)
as my current telescopes cover sky areas to small for such a relatively large object, i deceided to go for my first mosaik. thx to the post-editing software doing the alignment, i personally think it turned out pretty good :) given the many clear sky nights we had at the end of 2024, i would now rather do three panels to also cover the faint branches on both ends.
camera: ToupTek ATR533C
mount: Skywatcher HEQ5Pro
scope: Skywatcher Esprit ED80
dual narrow band: mosaik of two panels each 70x180sec @gain 100 and 1x1 binning, cooled to -10°C
RGB (for star color): mosaik of two panels each 30x120sec @gain 100 and 1x1 binning, cooled to -10°C
