The sun, hovering just above the horizon, bathes the sky in a gradient of warm hues, from deep purples to fiery oranges. In the distance, the hazy silhouette of Bare Island adds depth, completing this coastal composition.

A cloudless sunset at Waimarama Beach, looking towards Bare Island, with the reef in the foreground.

The name "Bare Island" inspired me to create a minimalist image. I chose a long shutter speed to soften the busy waves, reducing their impact and creating a more serene effect. The clear sky was ideal for a minimalist composition, with only the faint beginning of the Belt of Venus appearing behind the island.

Remnants of a small group of cabbage trees standing in the still waters of Lake Tūtira emerged as silhouettes against the soft morning light. As the rising sun gently warmed the scene, the fog began to lift, gradually unveiling the distant trees bathed in a serene, ethereal glow.

What was once shrouded in fog gradually comes into focus as the mist lifts, unveiling the branches and vibrant greens of the trees standing in the calm waters of Lake Tūtira. The landscape in the distance becomes clearer, and hints of a blue sky emerge. The fuzziness is giving way to sharpness and clarity.
