Babcock State Park, in West Virginia's New River Gorge, near Clifftop. Joan and I need to get back there; our last visit was in 2010, when I took this photo.
Glade Creek Mill is a photography magnet, but there's lots more to the park.
The stone building is the park headquarters building. When we first stayed at Babcock (in '97, I think) the HQ housed a surprisingly good restaurant, but the quality deteriorated over the years and it eventually failed.
The calm stretch of Glade Creek in the foreground was originally intended as a swimming pool, but seems no longer to be used that way. It's held in place by a little dam.
This is just a small piece of the park, which has a campground, cabins, and trails. It's a large park, but the river valley makes it a fairly steep place.
As I said up top: We need to get back.
The same photo, processed differently.
