This is the Shinarump Conglomerate, an Upper Triassic, fluvial, coarse-grained siliciclastic unit. The outcrop is part of a rimrock section near the top of a canyon wall in Arizona. The Shinarump consists of quartzose sandstones, pebbly sandstones, and lithic conglomerates.
Stratigraphy: Shinarump Conglomerate Member, lower Chinle Formation, Norian Stage, Upper Triassic
Locality: outcrop next to Sliding House overlook, southern rim of Canyon de Chelly, Canyon de Chelly National Monument, northeastern Arizona, USA

The partly-vegetated rock exposures in the center of the picture are the Shinarump Member, in the basal Chinle Formation (Upper Triassic). The Chinle is a multicolored, nonmarine unit consisting of coarse-grained siliciclastics (fluvial channel facies) and fine-grained siliciclastics (floodplain facies). Quartz-permineralized fossil wood is famously common in the Chinle Formation (for example, Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona).
The Shinarump Member (also known as the Shinarump Conglomerate) here consists of sandstones and conglomerates. At Dinosaur National Monument, the unit is also known as the Gartra Member of the Chinle Formation.

Locality: outcrop north of Cub Creek Road, Dinosaur National Monument, northern Uintah County, northeastern Utah, USA (vicinity of 40° 25' 20.03" North latitude, 109° 11' 03.91" West longitude)

Conglomerate & sandstone in the Permo-Triassic of Arizona, USA.
This outcrop is in Arizona's Canyon de Chelly National Monument. The top-most, thinner-bedded portion of the section consists of Upper Triassic Shinarump Conglomerate. The whitish and reddish-brown portion of the section is an ancient sand dune deposit called the De Chelly Sandstone (pronounced "De Shay") (Lower Permian). The Shinarump-De Chelly contact is an unconformity. Unconformities are erosion surfaces representing missing time. Bedding geometries in the two units are parallel, making the erosion surface a disconformity. The De Chelly Sandstone here has many tilted layers - those are cross-beds, which formed in a one-directional wind current. However, the horizontal bedding in the De Chelly is parallel with bedding in the overlying Shinarump.
