Veteran Caltrain F40PH-2 #916 shoves its train towards San Francisco, seen here departing Redwood City. This is the final morning for 916 and its set of Gallery cars. Starting the following day, all Caltrain service north of San Jose would be operated solely using Stadler KISS EMUs, with the F40s and Galleries retired after nearly 40 years of service.

One of Caltrain's new Stadler KISS EMUs snakes around a curve as it prepares to make a station stop in Palo Alto, CA.

In a scene that looks like it could be straight out of the northeast, a Caltrain Stadler KISS EMU races under the catenary wire approaching the Lawrence Station on the first day of fully electric service on the railroad.

One day before the start of fully electrified service on the Caltrain corridor between San Jose and San Francisco, a Stadler KISS EMU quietly pulls into the station adjacent to an MP36PH, about to take one of its final trips north.

As the clouds clear on a Friday morning, a southbound Caltrain led by F40PH-2 #908 pulls into the Redwood City station. Perhaps befitting of the gloomy start, this would be the last day that F40s would be seen here - starting the following day, all Caltrain service north of San Jose would be operated using Stadler KISS EMUs.
