The old-style clock just outside the historic Santa Fe Depot in Claremont, CA, now used as a Metrolink station, watches over the last Los Angeles-bound train of 2021 as it pulls out of the station. The clock has seen countless trains pass the station in its nearly three decades here as it says goodbye to another year of keeping time for the railroad. Happy New Year!

Amtrak's Operation Lifesaver P42 #203 leads a special through Fullerton Jct with former Santa Fe 4-8-4 #3751, a Superliner coach, and a Pacific Surfliner cab car in tow. Though the diesel is in the lead, 3751 is doing the work after being on display for an Amtrak safety event in Fullerton for the weekend. This is 3751's first outing in five years following its 15-year FRA rebuild. Though it is not leading this time due to awaiting PTC software, it should be able to lead on future trips.

Fullerton is all green on this early January day as Metrolink train 662 pulls in, led by one of the few remaining F59PHIs in active Metrolink service at the time, #882. 882 would go on to be the last F59PHI in service until its retirement not long after this shot was taken.

The 2011 Metrolink Holiday Toy Express sits at the Claremont station as a performance is put on for the kids (and kids at heart) in attendance. Although Metrolink has not run this train in many years, it did bring cheer and fun memories to Southern California for well over a decade. Happy holidays to all!
