My first entry for 100X: The 2025 Edition
My X is: " images taken in a lightbox" :-)
I took a picture of a small basket and dedicated it to Monday.
Macro work.

Lamoureux Park

2025 - 100x Project Theme:
Two consecutive shots of each scene, converting the second image to black and white, taken with the Leica Q2 in my hometown of Cornwall, Ontario. Feedback on viewer preference for colour vs black & white is welcome.

I watch the turkeys parading around in the 15 inches of snow we have received in the past 6 days, and I wonder how they, and all the tiny birds too, can stay warm.

Here is a Turkey feather... a downy feather... just one feather, about an inch an a quarter across.... they have hundreds of these, all layered right next to their skin. So do the little birds (only tinier down feathers of course ).
You can see the end of the tiny shaft on the right, and then the feather curls around so you see the "top" of the feather curling in at the left.

In Spring, they shed these downy feathers by the bushel.

Thanks to the encouragement of Tom Malinsky, www.flickr.com/photos/tmalinski/
I finally got my new camera to do the automatic focus stacking photos without any glitches. 30 shots were taken and put together in Helicon Focus.

My contacts might know I have done focus stacking before, but I always took the images manually, which meant the increments between the differently focused shots were made by me twisting a knob... so the steps were never perfect, and even.
Now, with my new camera, the increments are perfectly spaced.

So, since it was a success, I thought I'd put this image up today. Thanks again, Tom!

I have also just joined a group called 100 x: The 2025 Edition, where you put up 100 photos, all which meet a theme of your choice. I chose Focus Stacking. So I guess you'll be seeing a lot of these... although I can Focus Stack on any type of shot, Landscapes etc, as long as I have my tripod.

I haven't done one of these for a while and decided on a vintage book for this one with some dried hydrangea flowers.
