Although I haven't posted much lately, I've still been busy working on a few new black and whites. While I really like how this one turned out, I will admit that this is not at all the comp that I intended when I originally took the shot. An unexpected but pleasant surprise nonetheless. Hope you enjoy it and thanks for viewing.

Well hello there! Yes, I'm still taking pictures; yes, it's been quite awhile since I've posted anything (at least publicly); yes, I realize nobody really cares how long its been. Anyway, all is good, I've just been lacking the time (and motivation) to process a huge backlog of shots which I am now trying to rectify.
This particular shot was from a trip earlier this summer to California, Oregon and Washington, focused mostly on the Redwoods and coastal areas. We had no particular agenda other than to work our way from San Francisco to Seattle in a little more than a week. Despite what could only be described as so so photography weather (you know how it goes - when we were in the forests, it was bright and sunny; when we were at the coast, it was soupy gray or clear blue, uggh), it was still one a hell of a good time. This trip really had everything - amazing scenery, great camaraderie, the best hotdog I've ever tasted and, unbelievably, even a few mermaids (sorry, that's a story is for another day)!
The evening I took this picture we had actually changed our plans at the last minute and decided to stay an extra evening in Bandon; had we not, I would have missed out on what is quite likely my favorite of the trip.
Well, enough blabbering... Hopefully you will like it as much as I do. Thanks for viewing!

Last summer I had an opportunity to take a short four day trip to Banff National Park with my daughter who had just finished her senior year of high school. Our trip was scheduled the week before graduation and, at the time, the US still required you to pass a covid test to get back into the country. Not quite sure what I would have done had one of us failed the test but I'm guessing it would have involved renting a car and driving non-stop for two days in order to get her back in time for the ceremony. Fortunately it didn't come to that, but what a difference a year makes. Anyway, this particular shot was taken during a drive through Kananaskis County. Our forecast for the trip wasn't the best but the clouds and overcast skies allowed for some perfect mid-afternoon shooting conditions. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think and as always, thanks for taking a look.

One more from a short trip to the Utah desert a few weeks ago. We booked this trip hoping to catch a super bloom in southern Utah. The conditions didn't quite pan out but there was no shortage of interesting things at which to point my camera.
If you like this one, please give it a fav or better yet, leave a comment and let me know what you think. As always, thanks for taking some time to give it a look!
