Hola a Todos
Sin Electricidad, la sociedad del Siglo XXI no puede vivir.

Desde las enormes pantallas LCD o LED que con toda seguridad pululan en los millones de hogares chilenos hasta los electrodomésticos de uso diario como los Refrigeradores o Lavadoras, todo, absolutamente casi todo funciona con la energía eléctrica, y para el caso del Gran Santiago, gran parte de ella proviene desde la Central Hidroeléctrica de Rapel (en la Región de O´Higgins), más otras ubicadas en la zona central del país y que inyectan energía a lo que se conoce como el Sistema Interconectado Central (SIC) de Energía, que cubre desde Tal - Tal (Región de Antofagasta) hasta la Isla Grande de Chiloé (Región de Los Lagos) , y que se encarga de hacer el enlace entre las empresas transmisoras y distribuidoras de energía.

Para el caso del área metropolitana de Santiago, existen dos grandes empresas que se reparten importantes zonas de infuencia, ambas en manos de capitales extranjeros, siendo ellas CGE (propiedad de Gas Natural Fenosa -España-) y Chilectra (propiedad de Endesa, a su vez de la Italiana Enel) y que se reparten la ciudad, quienes finalmente permiten la llegada de la luz hasta las casas de los aproximadamente 7 millones de Santiaguinos.

The Canela Wind Power Park is one of the dozens of wind power parks placed aside to the Route 5 Norte, in the northern region of Coquimbo (between the cities of Santiago and La Serena, 472 Kms. by car from Santiago -5 hours-), creating fully renewable energy that Enel Green Power (owner of this facility) enters to the chilean electric grid system as part of the effort that Chile (between the Government and Private Companies) are doing for increase Non Conventional Renewable Power as part of their energy generation.
