I‘ve finally gotten round to doing another You Tube video, this time on using the Olympus Hi Res Mode for landscape photography; follow the link
youtu.be/8JvkNxIGUHA
if you’d like to check it out.

Shooting in RAW you can get an 80MP image when using Hi Res, but you can go one step further and shoot a panorama made up of individual hi res shots. In this example of the Humber Bridge (taken back in December), I shot six Hi Res Raw images and merged them together in Lightroom. The output was a humongous 242mp image which was over 24,000 pixels on its long edge. The downside is that it is 770 MB big 😵

Now I don’t have a regular need for such large images, but I was asked recently if I had a very large image of the Bridge to fill an office wall, so I thought I would see what I could get.

Captured towards the end of a morning shoot in Twigmoor Woods, North Lincolnshire. This appears at the end of my recent YouTube video (youtu.be/Svoa8vUz5Bg), on dealing with clutter when photographing in the woods.

I mentioned at the end of the video that I was going to continue scouting round looking for other compositions, and this is one of the images I found. The sun was good enough to make an appearance to add that extra interest.

As I had been using my Olympus for videoing during the morning, I thought it only fair to give it a go with the photos this time.

The first real fog and frost of the season, though with the start of meteorological winter next week, we can, hopefully, expect more.

This is the first time I’ve been to this particular spot, Scawby Park, and I can’t believe why it’s taken me so long! But it’s always good to discover new places, no matter how long you’ve been taking photos.

Another shot from last week’s visit to Scawby Park, on a misty and frosty morning.

This tree gave the impression that it was reaching out to touch what little warmth there was from the sun.

*** 4th Dec 2020, image made it onto Explore! Never sure the criteria used to select images for Explore, but very nice all the same 😁 ***
