Reason: Celebrating the year 2014 on the Pont des Art, the bridge with a very special meaning to us (wedding 2012). And the coincidence that I had an overnight stay in Paris just at this special evening.

Reason: Every January people are overloaded with coupons and promotions. We received the coupons with special offers of KFC and McDonald's at the same time. Chicken or beef, Hot Wings or Chicken McNuggets, Quarter Pounders or Twister Wraps, McFlurry or Kruchems.
Valid Thru: BK coupons thru 10/02 and McDonald's coupons thru 26/01
McDonald's: More than 34,000 restaurants worldwide, 236 in the Netherlands as we speak from which 146 feature a Drive-Thru (62%)
KFC: KFC has about 18,000 locations worldwide with 41 in the Netherlands as we speak from which 19 feature a Drive-Thru (46%).

A room with a view over our own city!
Location: Room 812 at the Double Tree by Hilton at the Oosterdokseiland in Amsterdam.
Reason: The second edition of the Amsterdam Hotelnacht (Amsterdam Hotel Night) which allows residents from Amsterdam to sleep in hotel of their choice in their own city. Stewart has chosen the Double Tree by Hilton. Good hotel, rooms with a view and the Sky Lounge at the 11th floor (roof).
Double Tree by Hilton: This hotel opened in 2011 and has 553 rooms. DoubleTree is an American hotel chain. It is part of Hilton Worldwide. Most DoubleTree hotels are independently owned and operated by franchisees, but some are owned and/or managed by Hilton Worldwide. In total there are more than 325 Double Tree by Hilton locations worldwide, the chain was founded in 1969 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

In Paris I never have to look for something, the city keeps surprising me at every street corner...
Location: Place de la Madeleine, in front of the Église de la Madeleine
Reason: An evening walk through Paris during my 546th découcher (overnight). These kind of walks are the main source of most of my Paris photos on Flickr.
Madeleine: L'église de la Madeleine, (more formally, L'église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine; less formally, just La Madeleine) is a Roman Catholic church occupying a commanding position in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. It was designed in its present form as a temple to the glory of Napoleon's army. To its south lies the Place de la Concorde, to the east is the Place Vendôme, and to the west L'église Saint-Augustin.
The Madeleine is built in the Neo-Classical style and was inspired by the Maison Carrée at Nîmes, one of the best-preserved of all Roman temples. Its fifty-two Corinthian columns, each 20 metres high, are carried around the entire building. The pediment sculpture of the Last Judgement is by Lemaire, and the church's bronze doors bear reliefs representing the Ten Commandments. Its size is 108 meters long and 43 meters wide.

You can't win them all, you cant's climb them all...
Location: Rue de la Rosière in un hameau Northwest of Bourg Saint-Maurice at an altitude of +945 meters.
Reason: My plan was to climb to the Chapelle Saint-Michel at 1,345 meters I'm indicating on this selfie. A colleague has left behind a beautiful memory to commemorate our former manager of the Dutch Thalys group. This all at the little chapel all the way up. My plan was to walk up that steep hill (another 400 meters plus) to commemorate 'our René' as well...
Mission Aborted: Some snow finally felt on Bourg Saint-Maurice last week and the path towards the foot of huge rock face were covered with snow and ice. Once on the rock where the Chapelle Saint-Michel is located was free from snow and ice and no problem, but the way to the rock was the problem here. My footwear was more than OK for just snow, but the ice made me decided not to walk all the way up. The mission has been postponed to a next time and opportunity (with crampons under my shoes, spikes so you want.
So I did commemorate René from this point. I'm sure he would have said "safety first" as well.
