Taken on the north section of the Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture.

I was very excited to find two Groove-billed Ani on the hill that the little Pioneer Trail goes around, just across the parking area from the pavilion. I haven't seen this species in at least 10 years. I wish my photos were better! But I couldn't get closer without going off trail. And flat-black birds sure are hard to photograph in a bright back-lit setting!
