Here is a point where the covered hallway splits, but instead of a T intersection and, in this case, a downstream left turn, the architects designed a semi-circle. A benefit of this setup would be easier transport of patients on gurneys, but I don't know if this was the intent. The three east-most wards on the southern building, including this one, were isolation wards. It could be that splitting the hallway enabled the hospital to split the ward, allowing still another level of isolation.
