Sunset Forest.... (EXPLORED)
This is one of those shots buried deep in the archives, on one of my hard drives that never saw the light of day,
In mid September of 2012 we hiked into the Hockley Valley Provincial Nature Reserve with some friends and their kids. , It was early afternoon when we started our trek into the woods and after several hours wandering about, we realized we were completely lost.
We thought we had found the trailhead several times but became aware we were going deeper and deeper into the park.and at one point we ended up in a farmers field surrounded by cows. by the time we finally found the trail that leads out of the park it was minutes before sunset.
We all had a good laugh once we arrived back at the spot where we had parked our cars. by that time the sun had gone down completely and it was really quite dark out.
"note to self". next time bring snacks, flashlights. and maybe bring some bread crumbs.

Into The Dusk.........
The sunset tonight was subdued due to the smoke that was in the atmosphere; caused by the US west coast fires.
The idea that this cloud of smoke has drifted over 3000 miles to affect our sunset boggles the mind, even as i try to grasp the scope of just how big these fires really are.
We have friends in California and Oregon and pray for their safety and the safety of all those affected.
This image is a composite; (Inspired by David M SARGEANT and his wonderful composites.)
This was a bit of an artistic stretch for me as I repositioned the sunset and then split and mirrored the image, finally adding the plane from another shot. hope you guys like it.

Winter Is Coming..
IN March of 2019 a heavy wet snow fell covering everything with a thick layer of fresh fluffy white snow. We got up early and headed to the park where we found ourselves in a scene from the movie Narnia; snow was falling from the branches above every time the wind blew. at times it was as if it was still snowing... with so much snow falling from the heavy laden branches overhead.
We worked our way through the park and found ourselves walking across the frozen river; we could hear the crack and creak of the ice straining under our feet, we know that the water at this point is only a few inches deep this time of year so no worries about falling through the ice.

Stranded Driftwood...
In June this year we ventured out to Jack Darling Park and after a couple of hours shooting we took a break on one of the many benches that dot the walkway through this lovely park.
This a shot of a pile of driftwood that has gathered and accumulated stranded out in the water the sun has bleached it pale white and the constant ebb and flo of the tide has smoothed it. I think it made for a wonderful yet surreal image.
