Opening day at the 2003 Illinois State Fair. This was Governor Blagojevich's first State Fair as Governor. Five and a half years later, Blagojevich would become the first Illinois Governor to be impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives, and removed from office by unanimous vote of the Illinois State Senate.

You are invited to stay and browse through my stream. Here's a quick index to my little corner of Flickr:

Automobile Photographs
: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Central Illinois (except Springfield)
: Central Illinois (except Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I've photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "countryside") photographs are grouped by county.

Springfield, Illinois
: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

The Illinois State Fair
: My collection of photographs of the Illinois State Fair. The fair offers something for everyone. Grab a corn dog and lemon shake-up, and come take a look!

Beyond Central Illinois
: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

In addition to my location-based sets, here are links to some "topical" collections and sets I've put together:

Barbers & Barber Shops
: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.

Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!
: Included topics range from man's first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.

A smiling Illinois Governor Rod R. Blagojevich poses for the camera at the Illinois State Fair in 2003. Blagojevich was seven months into his first term as Governor. Five and a half years later, Blagojevich would become the first Illinois Governor to be impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives, and removed from office by unanimous vote of the Illinois State Senate.

Embattled Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is shown waving his right arm furiously. The disgraced Governor was impeached on by the Illinois House on January 9 by a vote of 114-1. Five days later, the newly sworn in House members conducted a second impeachment vote, this time passing by a margin of 177-1 (the Governor's sister-in-law was the only "no" vote.

The impeachment trial of the Governor began in the Illinois Senate Chamber on January 26, and concluded on January 29 when the Senate booted Blagojevich from office by a 59-0 vote. The Lt. Governor of Illinois, Patrick Quinn, was sworn in as the state's 41st Governor minutes after the vote. The former Governor is expect to be indicted in the Spring on criminal charges alleging he attempted to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama.

Illinois Governor Rod R. Blagojevich addresses a generally hostile crowd at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum dedication on April 19, 2005. Blagojevich was not a popular figure in Springfield during his 6 year tenure as Governor. In January 2009, Blagojevich was removed from office on January 29, 2009, and was immediately seceded by Lt. Governor Pat Quinn, who is seated behind the First Lady in this photo.

As Blagojevich gave his remarks, I found the expressions on the faces of Senators Obama and Durbin, Congressman LaHood and Speaker Hastert, as well as President Bush, to be rather amusing. Nobody liked Blagojevich; particularly members of his own party. The former Governor is now facing criminal prosecution on Federal corruption charges.
