YOKOSUKA, Japan – U.S. Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (USNMRTC) Yokosuka held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new American Red Cross desk at U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH) Yokosuka.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, acting commanding officer, Capt. Protegenie Reed expressed appreciation for the contributions of the American Red Cross volunteers.

“The American Red Cross has been instrumental in augmenting our staffing support,” said Reed. “Their contributions go far beyond day-to-day assistance; they have played a critical role in our recent blood drive, mass casualty exercises, and mass vaccination efforts. The dedication and selfless service of these amazing men and women have directly strengthen our mission readiness and patient care. We are so excited for this next chapter and look forward to continuing this incredible partnership.”

The new location, which is on the first floor of the hospital near Family Medicine and Immunizations, allows the Red Cross to expand its support, with a dedicated workforce of volunteers assisting within the hospital.
