I've only ever taken two photos at Betws-y-Coed. This is the first - a fifteen inch gauge (I think), Union Pacific diesel loco numbered 6641 at the Conwy Valley Railway Museum. I know nothing about this loco and the internet is silent. However I believe that it's now elsewhere.

37714 pauses at Severn Tunnel Junction with 6V05 09:32 Round Oak to Margam empty steel service on the 3rd April 1989. Unfortunately I never visited STJ before it became a wasteland. Thanks to David Hayes (see below) for the train's likely ID.

Early morning brightness creeps across 37431 "Sir Powys/County Of Powys"" as it stands in Aberystwyth station with the stock of "The Cambrian Coast Express" - 1A31 07:14 to Euston. Taken at 06:18 on the 22nd May 1989. In my opinion this was well worth the overnight drive from West Yorkshire.
