Leeds Central sign. Wagon Hoist Mini-Museum. 17/4/2024. It carries the tangerine colours of the North Eastern Region of British Railways, which will be familiar to people of a certain age, like me! I passed through Leeds Central many times in my childhood/ early youth as we used to travel from Todmorden to visit my grandparents in Chesterfield, so would arrive at Central before crossing over to Leeds City to catch a Midland Main Line express, including the Devonian at times.

The north concourse of the former Leeds City Station, built in 1938, when Leeds Wellington and Leeds New stations were combined to form Leeds City. I've passed through this building hundreds of times in my life, but never had the wit to photograph it before. When opened, the concourse contained platform entrances, booking offices, left luggage offices, refreshment rooms etc. It's now entirely turned over to various retail activities, albeit they seem to be mostly food outlets.

The only shot of a Sheffield "Supertram" in my possession is this one taken at Tinsley on the 6th August 2005. I was waiting for a freight to pass when this floated past me. This is Siemens-Duewag Supertram 116 on a Meadowhall to Middlewood service. The system has been operated by Stagecoach since 1997, although apparently the concession runs out this year, so I don't know whether that state of affairs will continue. The advertising livery on this tram has long since been replaced in favour of several different ones over the course of time. The cooling towers in the background have been demolished now, also.
