Nowadays it takes DRS two, three or even four locos to haul one or two nuclear flasks around the network. Back in the "old days", a single Class 31 sufficed for four flasks, a barrier wagon and a brake van! Here, 31199 approaches Plumpton Junction, Ulverston with 7M22 Torness to Sellafield flasks on the 6th June 1992.

37608 & 37612 pass Winwick with 6K73 15:15 Sellafield to Crewe nuclear flasks. 6/8/2003. I have got all too few photos of nuclear flask trains, especially with double headed 37s at the head, so despite this not being taken in full sun, on it goes!
