How is it possible that this is the last day of February 2025, it only seems like it was Christmas just a few weeks back. I am looking forward to sunset this evening, it will be the first day in months when the sun will set in Dublin after 18.00! Anyway, on to today’s photo we are given the following from the catalogue “Dr. Walker of whom I write: Ethel & the major of hewly” If you have any idea what this means you are a better Mary than me!

A tough one for you all today, we have an unknown stand in an unknown location at an unknown event, on an unknown date. The catalogue does tell us that “Seated in the front row is Ernest Blythe (second from end, far right) and in the third row are Kevin O'Higgins (third from end, far right) and Hugh Kennedy (far right)”. Help!

Photographer: Unknown

Contributors: Kennedy, Hugh, 1879-1936

Date: 192-

A large group of well-armed British Soldiers on a cobbled street somewhere in Dublin, I would suppose. The Catalogue tells they are readying themselves for another raid in Dublin and occurrence that seems to happen on an hourly basis. I would be surprised if we do not at least confirm the location?

These two photos are from a jewel of an album that has only been living in Library Towers for the last three years. It is small but perfectly formed, and records a voyage around the south-west coast of Ireland in August 1913.

Photographer: Michael Ennis?

Date: August 1913

A rather whimsical photo for us to play with today. It's from a wonderful album of photos by Chancellor [of Dublin?] Photographers. The dress is tremendous, the pages' rig outs almost as impressive.

Wonder if the boys were press ganged into service, or were willing participants in this whole extravaganza? Would also love to know who the woman is. And of course, more about this Déanta in Éirinn forerunner of Guaranteed Irish.

Date: Circa 1900?-1910? 1909?
