When a Jameson and a Guinness are in that order, then the young lad has to have a lemonade! That was always the way and the way it should be. In this album however the Jameson is a Miss, while the Guinness is Cecil, while the young lad wasn't invited to the Ball!
A really interesting album from the Library's collection, with the high and mighty living it up in the grandeur of Viceroy's quarters in Dublin Castle. The families of Ireland's most famous drink producers had climbed the dizzy heights to be among the specially invited guests.

The Sheehy Skeffington Collection contains images of many outstanding and interesting women, and none more so than this morning's subject. Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of the four times US President, was well known for her own strong opinions and her ability to influence her husband in his decisions. On the day when the world wakes up to the actions of one of his successors, it seems appropriate to reflect on another "consequential" Presidency?

An interesting portrait from the Sheehy Skeffington Photographic Collection, and from the notes in the Catalogue we see that Marguerite B. Palmer was a hunger striker and a member of the IWFL. What more can you tell us about this leading suffragette?

A dapper looking Con Lehane posing for his portrait in the early years of the last century is our offering for today. We have a sneaking suspicion as to who Con Lehane was, but that may be mistaken. There was a Republican leaning solicitor of that name practising in Dublin back in the 1960s who may, or may not, have been related?
On another matter entirely, today marks 10 years since the
"Three Marys" took over the posting and moderating of the images on this stream. It only feels like yesterday, and yet the knowledge gained, the comments read, the fun we have had makes it feel like we have been doing it all our lives. It's a great way to start the day!!! Thank you all for your support and forbearance at the blips caused by the Krazy Kataloguers!
