We saw just a few pelicans today! This is likely the most American White Pelicans I've ever seen in flight together. I only got maybe 1/3rd of them in this photo. They were circling high above us over the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Bloomington. Most times it seemed like there were 2 to 3 separate groups, but more than once they appeared to combine for one massive "squadron." In this particular picture, a smaller group circling in one direction, passes underneath a larger group circling in the opposite direction. Hennepin County, MN 09/21/24

Some more shots of the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds I came across on Tuesday evening. There were two birds for sure because they chased each other quite a bit. I missed so many good photo opportunities here, I think mostly because the setting/background was too busy, with lots of wild plants and grasses everywhere. In the best photo I got, the bird has its eyes closed - LOL. Hennepin County, MN 08/13/24

I'm still seeing Spotted Sandpipers frequently this summer, and I'm fairly certain they are nesting in this area, though I've never found a nest yet. I caught this one in flight a couple of days ago. Anoka County, MN 06/24/24
