Today, during an outdoor excursion, I came across a unique gem – Xylocopa violacea. This rarely seen species of bee was extremely calm and allowed me to work for a full 30 minutes. The result? A spectacular portrait and a close-up of its wing, revealing microscopic details I had never even imagined.

Portrait: R5 MKii + Mitutoyo 5X APO HR, stacked & panoramic approach (3 panels), ~900 images total, 2–3 minutes for the entire sequence
Wing: Mitutoyo 10X APO HR, ~420 images

Meticulous stacking and panoramic shooting takes a lot of time and precision, but nothing captures the beauty of nature better than macro photography on this scale. By getting closer to the bee world, I discovered just how amazing and detailed these creatures can be—creatures we often overlook in our everyday lives.

Sometimes it’s worth stopping and looking a little deeper – who knows, perhaps another extraordinary specimen is waiting just around the corner!
