The theme for this week is Stars. Whoever came up with the timing of this theme was clearly deeply twisted since photographing stars at the summer solstice requires staying up extremely late. Hanging around in lanes and fields in the dark might be considered as a little strange by some people. Not photographers obviously.

I was amazed at how many shooting stars were visible on the images. This single 20 second exposure has three. You can also see the Milkyway. The image might have been even clearer leaving it later, but I liked the graduated colours and went with minimal adjustment to a single RAW image.

So finally... I have managed to photograph a lightning strike. I'm pretty happy with it too. Obviously I can now give up photography and retire.
