Lake O'Hara is one of the best-preserved places in the Canadian Rockies. It sits high in the Canadian Rockies at an elevation of 2,020m (6,627 feet). It is a beautiful sub-alpine glacial lake surrounded by the towering peaks of the Canadian Rockies. The hiking-friendly environment - with so many accessible trails starting right from the lake, hikers can easily spend days here without getting bored.

The photo was taken at the starting hiking place, a brilliant blue-green alpine lake, with towering mountains reflected in its still waters. It was cloudy, but I could still breath the fresh air while walking along this beautiful lake. I was too close to the mountains at bottom of Lake O'Hara... ;))

Emerald Lake is in Yoho National Park, British Columbia. Went on a sunny and cloudy day, there was walking path that took you all the way around this beautiful emerald green mountain lake. The photo was taken before crossing the bridge, the little lodge locates just on the end of bridge, with lake and mountains on both sides. The lodge would be beautiful with light on when covered with snow in winter time.

Lake O’Hara - 11 kilometers to the lake in one way from parking lot, if you are lucky to book the shuttle, you can spare this 22 kilometer walking, save the energy to climb 10~20 kilometers mountains. Access to Lake O’Hara is strictly controlled with a reservation system, which means that it is never crowded. The most difficult booking shuttle bus in the world. Book online in April every year, and then draw lottery.

The mountain climbing for a total of 7 hours, about 10 kilometers, and the height of the mountain was 2,315 meters. The trail is rated as difficult! It is a beautiful sub-alpine glacial lake surrounded by the towering peaks of the Canadian Rockies. There is an extensive network of trails that lead you around the lake, into nearby alpine basins, and up onto mountainside ledges with amazing views. It was a tough climbing, some part of the mountains covered with snow, very slippery, muddy, narrow and steep. One falling may lose the life... Felt tired both mentally and physically after this hiking and climbing. The scenery on the top of the mountain was breathtaking and shocking, and forgot that there might be bears around... Others saw it. 😅 The photo was taken more than half way to the top of the mountain.

The hiking-friendly environment - with so many accessible trails starting right from the lake, hikers can easily spend days here without getting bored. Went there twice during the trip, this was the first time, experienced weather changing from sunshine, to raining and snowing, very windy. Most of the photos taken by my camera were mist covered moody photos. 😉

The most photographed place on the whole Lake O'Hara Circuit is called Opabin Prospects. Here is the view of Lake O'Hara, the crystal-clear lakes, hanging valleys, towering snow-capped mountains, and the pristine nature that shows the best Yoho National Park has to offer. It leaves you speechless!

Lake O'Hara is one of the best-preserved places in the Canadian Rockies. Lake O’Hara is 11km up a gated road from the parking lot. You can walk the road or book a shuttle bus. Since Lake O’Hara is so popular, starting in 2020 there is now a lottery for day trip bus reservations on the Parks Canada website. The hiking-friendly environment - with so many accessible trails starting right from the lake, hikers can easily spend days here without getting bored. The photo was taken at the starting hiking place, a brilliant blue-green alpine lake, with towering mountains reflected in its still waters.
