My first clear shot of this bird. It allowed me to approach close though I did not have a clear view of it. This bird is usually found on freshwater during migration and wintering. They forage by probing in shallow water or on wet mud, and mainly eat insects and similar small prey.

My very first shot of this small wader. This bird has yellowish legs, a breeding plumage that is generally subdued light brown above with some darker mottling and with a pattern of somewhat diffuse small brownish spots on the breast and neck. This bird is usually found on fresh water during migration and wintering. They forage by probing in shallow water or on wet mud, and mainly eat insects and similar small prey.

My best shot yet of the Common Sandpiper. A very co-operative bird this particular one. These 20 cm birds are often seen solitary or two or three birds scattered amidst other waders. Active and makes short dashes, hobbing, wagging short tail. Usually seen flying low over water, rapid wing-beats alternating with short glides. A winter visitor seen all over India. Diet consists of crustaceans, molluscs and insects.

Clicked at the Nadal beach. This is a migratory species wintering on coasts in Africa, South America, south Asia into Australasia and southern North America. It is also a coastal bird during migration.
