one doesn't see it here, but there is a cable (supporting the roof of the stadium) which starts at the top of the tower (on the opposite side) and is anchored in the concrete pylon here in the foreground. One can see the ends of the cable through 'windows' in the tower/ block, painted a beautiful red.

At any rate, the visual and physical transfer of forces is fantastic.

I also appreciated this manner of laying the stones for the retention walls, as the stones would have the tendency to only pack tighter together if/when there are earthquake tremors.
