It was pouring cats and dogs when we finally found this place, but the searching was well worth it. As a result though, the pictures were shot from underneath a protecting hand and as such not that well thought through....it really worms me that two of the differnt parapet heights blend in to one line!!
I'm not sure if I could find it again as to put it on the map, but a request to eventual visitors: as all the architourists are a cause of tension between the owners and the surrounding neighbors, they asked us to a) not stand under the awning or in the doorway of the house across the street and b) to come in small, quiet groups 'next time'.
As an architect who has to conform to rather strict rules concerning energy conservation and detailing, one has to shake off the 'but that's not possible/allowed' mantra in order to just sit back and appreciate the fantastic spacial situation which Fujimoto has managed to create here--both on the inside and outside. As he told us, he is inspired by Tokyo and many of his projects are simply interpretations of what he experiences on a daily basis in the city.
This really underlines the thesis that 'context is everything'.
Anyway, it is like the ultimate tree-house/ club-house for adults.

.....because I asked myself as well if it is just steel tubes and angles welded together. Yes, it appears so.

well, so much for a min. 2% roof slope and 10 cm parapet wall requirement (in Germany, anyway).
