123 Pictures in 2023 #105 "Tracks"
I had originally intended to use actual bear tracks, but we were not able to get off the boats we were using for a bear viewing trip. (we could get fairly close to the bears while the hunted the fish, but could not go into their land based territory. So I used these painted track at Rust Flying Services in Anchorage, who flew us to the lodge we used for viewing bears. THey lead from the lobby waiting area to the restrooms in the other building.

123 Pictures in 2023 #6 "A picture is worth a thousand words"
This waterfall feeds the Big River Lakes in a wilderness area near Lake Clark in Alaska. It would take a huge number of words to describe the calm felt when just watching and listening to the water. This spring is snowpack fed so is free of the silt that permeates the rest of the lakes.

123 Pictures in 2023 #108 :"Upside down"
This is the glacial lake at the base of the Knik Glacier, a few miles northeast of Anchorage, Alaska. THe lake is initially formed and filled by runoff, but as time goes on the glacier will calve icebergs into the lake. Once the hit the water they will normally turn upside down and start melting. THe blue ice in this one indicates that it had calved no more than a couple of hours prior. AFter a few hours of exposure to sunlight the blue color fades away. And like their ocean going cousins, they have most of their mass underwater.

We took a day cruise/boat tour out of Seward, Alaska to the Northwest Glacier/Fjord. On the way we saw plenty of wildlife, including this Tufted Puffin coming in for a landing. The water is Resurrection Bay, and we were protected by a chain of islands from worse seas and wind.
