Charlotte Martha Reeves nee Kemp who arrived on Kangaroo Island from Tasmania, 1850 was the first unofficial post mistress.
She ran this from her home here at Reeves Point from 1860-1865. She died in 1866 at Alberton SA.
Her husband Samuel Reeves 1788-1881 was an employee of the South Australia Company.
Their son Augustus Reeves 1830 - 1905 was the first Official Postmaster here from 1871 - c.1883.
Their memorial plaque was unveiled by Dene Cordes, B.A.,P.S.M. founder, KI Pioneers Association Inc. and KI Branch, National Trust of S.A. on the 27th July 1996.
