Overflight of Emirates Airline Airbus A380-861 A6-EDJ. This photo was taken with a focal length of 750mm (500mm x Nikon crop factor of 1.5). The jet is flying on a cruising altitude somewhere between flight level 350 and 400.

MSN 009 has had its first flight on 25.08.06 with the test registration F-WWEA and was the first A380 to carry the Engine Alliance GP7270 turbofans. It was used for testing until 2008. Originally intended for Etihad Airways, this jet was delivered to Emirates on 04.06.10 with GP7270. If Etihad was the customer, the engines would have been replaced by Rolls-Royce Trent 900 - we all know them since the Qantas incident. With RR engines the type is A380-841 instead of -861.

Beautiful new livery on this Air India Boeing 747-4H6 VT-AIS which carries the name Sanchi. While accelerating on runway 18 some nice condensation in the engines is showing up! This aircraft is quite new to AI and the first with the new design. It was delivered to Air India on Sept. 22, 2007.

This aircraft is number 1,025 of all 747 that were built and has the construction number 25,703. The first flight took place on Mar. 16, 1994. On Mar. 30th it was delivered to MAS (Malaysian) as 9M-MPG. The code 4H6 stands for the first owner MAS. If Air India was the first customer, it would have been 437.

BTW: this is my most successful aviation photo! ;-) Thanks for 5,000 views as of 03.05.2009! 30,000 views reached on Jan. 20, 2015.

Douglas C-54 Skymaster c/n 5557 - parked near the apron of Tempelhof airfield.

This C-54 was a troop carrier with a capacity of up to 50 troops. It is 28.6m long and has a wingspan of 35.8m. MTOW is 33 tons. The G-version is powered by 4x Pratt & Whitney R-2000-9 radial engines. During the Berlin Airlift the C-54 was able to carry 3x more cargo than the C-47 Skytrain (or Gooney Bird).

This particular aircraft was used for a number of German movie productions like "Luftbrücke", "Die Bubi-Scholz-Story" and "Hilde".
