I just got back from Elk Island, and just started to look at what I got, and thought that this might make an alright post.
Reflections are from colours in the sky and not from tree leaves which have long fallen. I have not yet changed the clock on my cameras, so this was actually taken just shortly after 7AM.
Muskrats were pretty much the only thing I saw in the water, and I did see quite a few of them at different ponds. Probably my very favourite Rodent.

Rich evening light finds its way under the clouds to illuminate portions of the distant Windows and Balanced Rock in the foreground, Arches National Park, Utah.
Glowing mudstone in low-angle light is a simple pleasure of which I never tire. We have a National Park Service puzzle that shows this view from a very similar perspective but with even more outrageous light. Every time I am compelled to complete the puzzle I am driven to return to this extraordinary place. Of course, the desert of the Colorado Plateau finds its way into my thoughts in puzzle-less contexts too. On our recent visits, it is apparent that many others now feel the same impulse, as Moab is booming with hotel and condo construction and the price of staying for a week is significantly more than it was even a few years ago. Progress raises its double-edged sword…

A possible, although not definite, I.D. from Bugguide. I made this shot years ago in the ditch at the end of a friend's driveway in the interior mountains of BC. It was fairly still in the cool of a late summer evening, so I was able to set up the tripod and macro lens for a good quality image.
This ends the small insect set; tomorrow I will start in on some more recent photos.
Exposure: 1/8s at f/22, ISO 200.
Photographed in Nelson, BC (Canada). Don't use this image on websites, blogs, or other media without explicit permission ©2008 James R. Page - all rights reserved.
