Bayfield est une toute petite ville du Wisconsin (moins de 500 habitants). L'endroit est paisible et les amoureux d'architecture traditionnelle trouveront ici le bonheur. J'ai vu ici de splendides maisons victoriennes. Et surtout, ici, le touriste est très rare et les habitants vraiment très charmants!
Bayfield is a small town in Wisconsin (less than 500 citizen). The location is peaceful and traditional architecture lovers will find happiness here. I saw here a splendid Victorian homes. And especially here, the tourist is very rare and very friendly people!

A Bayfield, nous embarquons avec la voiture sur le ferry qui nous emmènera à Madeline Island. La traversée est rapide, moins de 15 minutes, et à bord, les passagers s'occupent comme ils peuvent: admirer le paysage, écouter de la musique à la radio dans la voiture ou tout simplement ne rien faire... Mais à la moitié de la traversée, il y a une surprise qui nous attend: le lac supérieur est encore en partie gelé! Nous sommes pourtant le 22 mai !!! mais l'hiver fut très rude cette année dans le Wisconsin et cela explique cette situation exceptionnelle.
A Bayfield, we ship with the car on the ferry that will take us to Madeline Island. The crossing is fast, less than 15 minutes , and on board , passengers are concerned as they can : the scenery , listening to music on the radio in the car or just do nothing ... But half crossing , there is a surprise waiting for us: the upper lake is still partially frozen! We are however on May 22 !!! but the winter was harsh this year in Wisconsin and that explains this exceptional situation.

Nous sommes le 22 mai, le ciel est bleu et il y a du soleil. Nous avons pris le ferry à Bayfield, Wisconsin, pour nous rendre à La Pointe, minuscule petite ville sur l'île de Madeline.
La traversée fut une véritable spectacle car le lac Supérieur est encore gelé à certain endroit et des iceberg flottent un peu partout. Ce n'est pas dangereux, juste impressionant. Surtout quand de gros morceaux de glace viennent frapper la coque du bateau: "Bang!" So fun!
We May 22, the sky is blue and there is the sun. We took the ferry from Bayfield, Wisconsin, to get to La Pointe, tiny little town on Madeline Island.
The crossing was a real show because Lake Superior is still frozen in some place and iceberg floating around. It is not dangerous, just awesome. Especially when large chunks of ice strike the hull of the boat, "Bang!" So fun!
