Lady of the Valley - Asheville NC Blue Ridge Parkway Spring Flowers North Carolina

Pink mountain laurel flowers blooming along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, NC in June. I shot this image during my "Spring in the Highlands" workshop in 2015 and it's been hiding on my hard drive since then. We had pretty heavy cloud cover that morning, but did get to see some great crepuscular light rays bursting out from under the clouds at times. Hope you enjoy the view! ;-)

Faded Glory - Great Smoky Mountains Sunset Landscape Cherokee North Carolina

Shot this image this past weekend while leading my yearly Blue Ridge Parkway Autumn Landscapes workshop in Western North Carolina. I love the soft pastel colors and contrasts that you frequently see as the sunset fades away into the blue hour, and we were lucky to see these conditions from an overlook above Cherokee, NC, as we ended our first day. I'm lucky to work with such great folks at these things who always make the experience so enjoyable, and I can't wait to get back out there for the next one! BTW, I have one spot open for the OBX workshop in a couple weeks if any of you would like to shoot some epic coastal stuff with us. Hope you enjoy the view :)

Rise - Appalachian Mountains Asheville North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway NC Scenic Landscape

A brilliant sunrise on a cold autumn morning over the Southern Appalachian mountains, shot from the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Asheville, NC. I shot this image a while back while leading a private landscape photography workshop on the Blue Ridge Parkway and it keeps catching my eye every time I look through my archives, so I decided to develop it and put it out there. It was easily one of the best sunrises I've seen, though the wind and biting cold made for some rough shooting. Nothing like watching a sunrise over the fall foliage in our beautiful mountains though! I hope you enjoy the view :)

Blue Ridge Parkway Spring Flowers - Spring in the Mountains

Craggy Gardens Catawba Rhododendron flowers blooming as Spring comes to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I shot this landscape last year and found it just now when rooting through my archives. Without a strong subject to focus on, it made me think of my friend Mark VanDyke's recent post about "going wide" and letting the beauty of the whole scene become the subject. Fall From Grace - Great Smoky Mountains Cherokee North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway Scenic Landscape

Gorgeous warm autumn light filters through the breaking storm clouds onto the vibrant fall foliage along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Southern Appalachian Mountains near Cherokee, NC. Another image that was taken while leading my annual Autumn Landscapes workshop along the Blue Ridge Parkway, we were treated to some awesome scenes this year and we definitely had an amazing time. Can't wait to get back out there and do it all again at the next one! Hope you enjoy the view :)
