The Holler - Great Smoky Mountains National Park Gatlinburg Tennessee

The vibrant colors of spring emerge as the rainy season in the mountains brings life to the valley below Mortons Overlook in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Gatlinburg, TN. Located just below Newfound Gap where the National Park was formally dedicated in 1940, Mortons Overlook is a popular spot for tourists along US-441 in the Smokies that offers a great view west down through the valley towards Gatlinburg. Faded Glory - Great Smoky Mountains Sunset Landscape Cherokee North Carolina

Shot this image this past weekend while leading my yearly Blue Ridge Parkway Autumn Landscapes workshop in Western North Carolina. I love the soft pastel colors and contrasts that you frequently see as the sunset fades away into the blue hour, and we were lucky to see these conditions from an overlook above Cherokee, NC, as we ended our first day. I'm lucky to work with such great folks at these things who always make the experience so enjoyable, and I can't wait to get back out there for the next one! BTW, I have one spot open for the OBX workshop in a couple weeks if any of you would like to shoot some epic coastal stuff with us. Hope you enjoy the view :)

Letting Go - Folly Beach SC Ocean Seascape Charleston South Carolina Scenic Landscape

Sunrise at the Folly Beach Pier made for a great start to the day during my annual Spring in Charleston photography workshops this year. There's always something special about being at the ocean coast, hearing and watching the waves crashing ashore, smelling the salt air, the feeling of your toes in the sand, it just grounds you. A Warm Welcome - Outer Banks NC Bodie Island Lighthouse Scenic Landscape

Warm sunlight just after sunrise at the Bodie Island Lighthouse in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Being the first iconic symbol along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore most people see when arriving at OBX, many people (myself included) see this lighthouse as a "Welcome to the Outer Banks" symbol. This was taken on the first morning of our trip last autumn, and it was indeed a warm welcome. Enjoy the view y'all!
