Inbound Grand Canyon threads its way through the maze of trackage near 22nd and Canal Street. The Santa Fe coach yard is off to the left. This area now looks virtually nothing like the photo. Chicago, February 1968.

It doesn't look this gloomy down there, but in my mind it should. One of the soon to be replaced Glasgow Subway arriving into Kinning Park.

At a time when railway photographers spent their time at the lineside taking front 3/4 pictures of express trains lit with full sun on the smokebox, Peter ploughed his own furrow.
This was taken at Mexborough shed, we don't know the identity of the 04 but it does not matter, the picture is of the contrast between light and shade using the sunbeams filtering through the roof. The 0-6-2 N5 tank is 69305 which Peter photographed separately.
Mexborough Locomotive shed was a large 15 road depot, on nationalisation in 1948 it had an allocation of 132 locomotives, it closed in February 1964. Peter was on an organised shed bash when he visited in 1957.

A detour on the way home from Ludlow yesterday to the village of Knucklas on the Central Wales line. Normally the traffic here is a single or two car sprinter, so when a railtour comes along, it's good to catch up with them if possible. Although it's quite a difficult line to fit lengthy trains into a shot though due to much of it being hemmed in with trees and bushes line side along much of the route.
I took a walk along the hill overlooking the viaduct to try and find a new angle, and came across this. I also bumped into Jonathan who I hadn't seen for quite a few years too, which was a bonus.
The light wasn't really playing ball, so the processing was a tad more tricky than I'd have liked, but figured it was worth sharing the final edit.
