If you head out on SR 14 through the Columbia River Gorge, you’ll find stunning views and a bumpy ride. There are several potholes, cracks and ruts which are signs the highway is deteriorating. To preserve the roadway, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will chip seal nearly 40 miles of SR 14 this summer.

SR 14 along the Columbia River Gorge is one of the most scenic drives in the state. However, the pavement is badly in need of a makeover.
