The High Creek culvert under SR 542 near Maple Falls is failing. The culvert was installed in the 1970s, and is a barrier to fish passage. In 2016 WSDOT will remove the old round culvert and replace it with an 11- by 26-foot concrete box culvert. With the box culvert in place, the creek bed will be restored to a more natural state, which will make it easier for salmon and other fish to travel under SR 542.

The High Creek culvert under SR 542 near Maple Falls is difficult for salmon and other fish to navigate. In addition, the culvert is wearing out. WSDOT plans to remove the culvert in 2016 and replace it with an 11- by 26-foot concrete box culvert. When the new culvert is in place, a new, natural creek bed will be built as well, improving fish passage.

High Creek runs through a culvert under SR 542 near Maple Falls. The culvert, which was installed in the 1970s, is wearing out, and it also creates a barrier to fish passage. In 2016 WSDOT will replace the round culvert with a 26-foot wide, 11-foot tall concrete box culvert. This will allow High Creek to be restored to a more natural state, improving fish passage.
