An outbuilding on the edge of the Pilchuck River teeters on the edge of ruin. The building would later be lost to the river, which is also cutting its way closer to SR 92, west of Granite Falls, WA.

The 50-foot marker teeters on the edge of the Pilchuck River, west of Granite Falls, WA. The marker would fall within days of this February 2016 photo. The river would also eat away another 10-plus feet of river bank.

The river bank is now within 40 feet of SR 92.

The Pilchuck River is pushing closer and closer to SR 92, west of Granite Falls, WA.

The driveway to a home that was lost in 2012 is on the left. White markers can be clearly see along the edge of the driveway. They've been placed every ten feet from the edge of Highway 92 to the edge of the riverbank. In this photo from March 2015, the bank is just more than 50 feet away.

There was a 60 foot marker there in February 2015, but in less than a month, it was lost to the river.

In the summer of 2016, contractors will begin a project to stabilize the riverbank and halt the erosion.

The Pilchuck River has pushed out of its normal channel west of Granite Falls, WA.

This has led to a sharp bend. The flow of the water is seriously eroding the riverbank which is inching closer to SR 92 on the left side of this March 2015 photo.

In the summer of 2016, contractors will begin a project to stabilize the riverbank and halt the erosion.
