When this occurs, a mobile containment system, think of a big tent, will be installed to remove the existing lead paint. It catches the removed material where it is then vacuumed, removed from the site safely and disposed of at a facility that is able to receive this type of material. Once the old lead paint is removed, new non-lead paint is applied within the containment. The system will remain in place until all cleaned and painted surfaces have been inspected and approved by WSDOT. Additionally, the containment system prevents material from being released into both water and air.

The 1958 SR 107 Chehalis River Bridge located south of Montesano in Grays Harbor county is in need of repairs. This project will replace the timber on the south approach to the bridge, install modern safety rails, and paint the steel structure on the bridge.
