It took me just over 9 minutes and an additional four miles to drive the entire detour route from Old Samish to 30th to SR 11/Old Fairhaven Parkway. Travelers should note the speed limit is 25 mph for most of this detour.

On a rainy Wednesday, I started at SR 11 and Old Samish and drove the entire detour. The Bolt I was driving has a timer in the vehicle that I started as I began. The speed limit for much of the detour is 25 mph.

WSDOT is working with the city of Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department to acquire a permanent easement near this project site south of Fairhaven to operate and maintain this culvert. The easement is on an unimproved forested portion of park property. Submit any questions or comments to Melissa Ambler, WSDOT project engineer or Leslie Bryson, Bellingham parks and recreation director. The signs posted near the project site share this same information.

Design inspections on some of our fish passage projects can be a bit of an adventure as crews need to hike to get down to the current culverts.
