About 300 yards from the Black Diamond Natural Area parking lot, there's no sign of a roadway unless you dig for it. WSDOT will use this old roadbed to create a bypass for SR 169 as we build a new bridge over Ravensdale Creek. Once work is complete, all the pavement will be removed and the area restored to a natural state.

About 200 yards north of the Black Diamond Natural Area, the old road bed for SR 169 has faded to a narrow trail. Once WSDOT is done with a temporary bypass along this section, we will remove all the pavement and restore the area to its natural state.

To build a new bridge for SR 169 over Ravensdale Creek, contractor crews built a temporary bypass and realigned the intersection of SR 169 and Southeast 288th Street. This photo shows the intersection prior to the bypass going into use.

A 1,000-foot-long bypass allows both directions of traffic to continue on SR 169 as WSDOT contractor crews build a new bridge over Ravensdale Creek.

The old SR 169 right of way has been turned into a bypass while contractor crews working for WSDOT build a new bridge. This includes a bridge over an old culvert, one of three that will be removed to improve fish passage in Ravensdale Creek.
