In May 2024, contractor crews reduced US 101 to one lane at a fish passage work zone between Forks and Port Angeles. Temporary signals alternate traffic one direction at a time. This allows crews to dig up part of part of the highway to build a bridge. The bridge replaces an outdated culvert under the highway that is a barrier to fish. The work zone is part of a project where we are removing barriers to fish at five locations along US 101 between Ruby Beach and Lake Crescent. This site will return to two lanes in fall 2024. Crews will return to the Wisen Creek site in 2025 to complete the project.

In June 2024, crews drilled into the ground to install beams for a support wall. The wall keeps the roadway stable during excavation. The work zone is part of a project where we are removing barriers to fish at five locations along US 101 between Ruby Beach and Lake Crescent. This site will return to two lanes in fall 2024. Crews will return to the Wisen Creek site in 2025 to complete the project.

Crews build a 42-foot arch culvert as part of a fish passage project along US 101 near Forks. This is one of five sites included in the project. We worked through summer 2024 to remove barriers to fish between Lake Crescent and Ruby Beach.
