We use high visibility fencing to block off the property where the construction will occur. The fencing in this photo shows where our crews work to remove an outdated culvert under US 101 south of Forks. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.

We use temporary traffic signals to keep people moving around some work zones. US 101 travelers south of Forks see these lights at both ends of a fish habitat project. The lights alternate traffic on a temporary lane one direction at a time. This allows workers to concentrate on construction outside of the roadway.

In order to remove a culvert under a highway, we first have to dig up the road. We use cranes to remove dirt and rocks. This crane is excavating a site on US 101 south of Forks for a fish barrier removal project.
