Not all of Kluane's shoreline is this geological wonder of once molten rock, probably glacially scoured. Some areas are gravelly, some areas are wide expanses of fine silt-sand, which becomes airborne in the area's almost constant winds.

If anyone can tell me anything of the geology of this area, I would greatly appreciate it.

Kluane Lake is shrinking.. and shrinking fast.

The Kaskawulsh Glacier on the southeast end of the lake has retreated to the point where its melt water is now going in a completely different direction, away from the Slims River that is Kluane's main water source.

Slims River has essentially dried up, and Kluane is shrinking, exposing great expanses of sand/silt/mudflats.
