Erected in 1908, this Beaux Arts courthouse was designed by South Carolina native William Augustus Edwards, of the firm Edwards, Walter, & Parnham. Edwards designed a number of other courthouses and schools in the Southeast. An arcade connects it to the adjoining Abbeville Opera House and Municipal Center, which Edwards also designed. The edifice was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. It is also a contributing property to the Abbeville Historic District, listed in 1972.

This structure was originally erected in 1881 using the blended Italianate and Second Empire designs of Robert N. McGrath and W.M. Aiken. It was later expanded and altered into a more Classical Revival appearance during three remodeling efforts in 1901, 1924, and 1934. The 1934 remodeling used the designs of architect Willis Irvin. A final expansion, designed by Wells/Law Group, Inc., was placed on the building's south elevation in 1989.

Erected in 1898, this Romanesque Revival courthouse was designed by Frank P. Milburn. It features eclectic elements including some Gothic and Mission Revival details. The building was slightly remodeled in 1938, and is a contributing property to the Anderson Downtown Historic District. The district was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and was increased in 1987 and 2018.
In 1991, a new courthouse was built directly across Main Street from this building. As a result, this former courthouse now houses county offices.

The Bamberg County Courthouse was originally built in 1897 using the designs of architect L.F. Goodrich. In the late 1940s it was revealed that the planned location of the new path of U.S. Highway 301 would pass right through the courthouse square. As a result, the courthouse was physically moved a block east to face the new highway in 1950. At that time, the structure was remodeled to its current appearance.
