At least that is what the mug says :-) Actually, he's perfect to me. The "theme" as it were for the 365 this week in "introductions" so I figured I would introduce you to my hubby or as my grandkids call him GP (short for grand pa). Our kids just call him Dad.
He was out on the deck as I was walking back home from getting some shots of the creek when I told him I was going to take his picture and he could not make a face or give me the usual flip the bird gesture. Rather, he pulled the coffee cup up and let me grab the shot.
I figured I would start my 365 project and the 100x project where I am going to shoot 100 x with my first DSLR and a vintage lens on a lens adapter here with a photo of my sweetie on New Years Day. The 365 will be with whatever camera I choose to capture the day with but the 100x is going to be my XTi with a vintage lens (I have several of them so I will put the lens in the tags and in the description here).
It is not a super great photo because of course it is taken with 10.1 megapixel camera - my original DSLR a Canon XTi with a Canon FD 135mm lens on a lens adapter. Edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2022.

The theme is Introductions for the first week. With that, I thought I would introduce you to where we hail from now for our retirement years. I am originally from the capital of Canada (Ottawa) and travelled while with the Canadian Forces and then our last "working years" being in Kingston Ontario (the original capital of Canada before Bytown or what is now known as Ottawa).
The big hamlet or Village of Plevna in North Frontenac Township. Plevna received it's first settlers in 1861 in what was once known as the Village of Buckshot (later renamed to Plevna). Elisha and Elijah Playfair settled on either side of this road where it crossed Buckshot Creek roughly from where I took this shot from and where you will see many photos of the Creek itself that I have taken over the years and you likely will see again in my 365.
Our little "house in the ditch" as our daughter calls our home was once the home of the Geo Caprin Store which not only housed a store but, also a post office according to the Historic Tours of North Frontenac Book that picked up at our local Home Hardware store before Christmas. As the house is located "in the ditch" winter parking can be tricky as the lane can get quite icy so we have "winter parking" spot on our property as well which you can see GP's old reliable truck and the rear end of my "Vanilla Ice Cube" on the upper left of this photo.
So there you have it, day 2 has been photographed with a Canon EOS 1DS Mark III with a vintage Magnicon Macro 3.5 70-210 lens on an adapter and processed in Lightroom Classic with the Mastin Labs Fuji Colour Pushed Cloudy preset to give it more of a vintage feel.

Well as the theme is introductions and I am going to try to stick with themes if possible here is a photo of Me and my shadow. Or at least, my shadow and the steps we take to get from the sidewalk to "the house in the ditch".
I am bundled up with a puffy winter coat, a toque (I hate hats but hey it's winter) and I tired to wave with my arm on the left in the photo but that too did not work out. Oh well.
Taken with my "new to me" Canon 5D Mark !! that I picked up when my poor old trusty 7D fell and was as Canon told me "too old to fix" so You Tube it was to figure out a work around which is slap the camera. LOL
My Sigma 105mm macro on the camera as well. The lens also decided to stop autofocusing but hey, I use vintage lenses on an adapter and those are all manual focus so what the heck I can still use it.
Canon 5D Mark II Sigma 105mm Macro at f8 ISO 200.

They say the eyes are the window to the soul. Mine are blue grey. Well I am not sure about that but if you can read anything into this "selfie" it is that I am bundled up with my hood of my coat on my head even though it is a balmy -2 out there. I hate wearing a toque (hat) in the winter - always have and I hate the cold (yes I know, I live in Canada where it gets cold and snows).
Of course we have to don a mask when entering a public place and to be honest I don't mind that one little bit.
I almost always wore a mask at the military health clinic where I worked before retiring in March of 2021. Prior to March of 2020 I I would see a member of the CAF in my office in person to work out a reimbursement claim with them - it was after all a doctor's office (family health team as it were) and the members who were coming in were more than likely coming in for sick parade to see a Dr. or NP and I did not want to catch even a cold thanks very much.
Back in 2009 we were all fitted with N95 masks due to the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic so, wearing a mask at work for the time I was there did not bother me. I was so used to hand washing and hand sanitizer as well so that was nothing for me to adopt as standard daily hygiene - I used hand sanitizer all the time at work after meeting with a member. Opening doors that other people touched I just used the hand sanitizer so again it didn't bother me to adopt this practice we have been asked to do.
I appreciate all the visits to my little corner of Flickr here and I may not get to respond to your comments if you do stop by but rest assured, I read the comments that are left and I appreciate them. I try to pop on to see photos of fellow Flickr folks I follow here and try to make a comment or even "fave a photo" as well as on the groups I belong to and post a photo too but, there are so many exceptional photographers on here that I just can't visit and comment on all - there are not enough hours in the day for me to do that.
So there you have it - a bit more about me. Hope you have a super awesome day!

Theme Introductions. Welcome to Myers Cave in North Frontenac Township Ontario. Seen here is Marble Lake that flows under the road and becomes Georgia Lake on the south side of Road 506.
As the story goes it was named after Meyers, a merchant from Belleville, who established an outpost on Still House Road. It was said he became friendly with aboriginals who traded with silver. One day he gave several of them some liquor and talked them into showing where they got the silver. They took him up the Skoot River to a cave, and when they sobered up they dumped Meyers in the lake. The merchant swam to shore and survived, but died of pneumonia later.
Canon XTi with a Canon FD 28mm 3.5 SC lens on an adapter for my 100x project for the 2022 year.
