Once you get up into the Mackenzie mountains of Vancouver Island you can expect to see layers of gorgeousness everywhere.

From the rocks on which you stand to the distant hills and majestic clouds.

I regularly have to pinch myself over the fact that I live here.

Winter was a dark time, both literally and figuratively.

But in the darkest of times there is beauty, even if you can't see it at the time.

I had to wade in to the lake up to my navel wearing jeans and runners. My camera was about 10 inches off the water and I had to wait until the ripples I'd caused faded before I could take the shot.

I think it's funny how I spent 2 years in the Canadian Rockies praying for mist and getting none. Then like buses, all the mist I'd ever wanted sauntered into my shot in a matter of minutes.

Strange life eh?

I took the same shot with two different cameras using the same lens and camera settings. I processed them both in the same way.

One of these was shot with a cheap Sony A6000 and the other was shot with the Sony A7RII. There's a $3000 difference between the costs of both cameras.

Which one do you think is from the cheaper camera? 1 or 2?

---------------------------------------

I really enjoyed reading your comments. Most people chose #2 correctly. #1 is with the cheaper camera. I guess the point here is that you really don't need to spend the extra $3000 to get good photos if you know what you're doing.

There may be some justification for better image quality and resolution if you're printing large images but for web only, you might as well save the money and go travel.

Finally, conditions were perfect at Nile Creek right here on Vancouver Island.

There are days when I have to pinch myself that I live here :)

A couple of weeks ago Tania and I headed out to Nile Creek to get shots of the top bowl with light rays. Hilarity ensued.............
