Something that seems inconceivable now since DB Cargo ceased using class 92's on general freight other than for HS1 and Channel Tunnel traffic, A class 92 on the Clitheroe Cement empties !
92 001 sits in Carlisle Kingmoor Yard having arrived with 4M00 the 01.35 Mossend Down Yard to Carlisle Kingmoor Yard. The train is formed of 13 yet to be lettered Castle Cement JPA 'Presflo' tanks still in their as manufactured brushed alloy finish. This traffic had just resumed in the spring of 2008 using 15 brand new wagons leased from VTG to Castle Cement. It had been a 15 year gap when traffic ceased between Clitheroe and Gunnie, Coatbridge in 1993. Castle Cement signed a 10 year contract with EWS to serve a new terminal built in P.D. Stirling's Freight depot at Mossend and in the early months of the new service a class 92 featured on the overnight southbound leg to Carlisle.

92 012 named 'Thomas Hardy' sits in Beattock Summit down goods loop with 4S65 the 09.12 SX Carlisle Kingmoor Yard to Mossend Down Yard 'Enterprise freight' on this occasion formed entirely of empty OTA wagons which would have originated at the Kronospan factory, Chirk and been tripped to Warrington Arpley Yard before being attached to 6C73 16.15 Bescot Yard to Kingmoor Yard trunk service. This leg of the journey will see them returned to Scotland for distribution from Mossend to various loading points in the Highlands.
