Here, the aforementioned sculptural lobby on several levels, thus enabling access to the double-deck elevators...one of the first of their kind in the US. One will also recognize the similarity of the ceiling with that of the Washington DC subway system.

Those windows in the cor-ten base were later added by Perkins & Will.
Even as a kid I always really liked this one. Back then it was probably more due to the copper-colored windows than anything else, but perhaps because it also looked so complete.
Weese did a great job of achieving clarity in his structures and this is no exception. Base, shaft, capital. On the ground floor he managed to include a colonnade on three sides, surrounding a a sculptural foyer on several levels. The different foyer-levels were employed as to offer access to the double-deck elevator-entrances.
I've been trying to find a section through the facade in order to understand the reveals above the windows, but have so far been unsuccessful. At any rate, it is a very nice detail which brings a lot of depth to the facade.
The rest of the building is clad in cor-ten steel, which has weathered very well and goes exceptionally well with the windows.
